Short History of the Wisconsin Badgers
Wisconsin’s football program began in 1889 and has won 14 Big Ten championships. The Badgers have appeared in 35 bowl games, including ten Rose Bowls with three victories, and have posted a bowl record near .543 (19–16). Wisconsin earned a Helms Athletic Foundation national title in 1942 (8–1–1). The program has produced two Heisman Trophy winners—Alan Ameche and Ron Dayne—and continues to feature prominently under coach Luke Fickell.
