Short History of the South Carolina Gamecocks
South Carolina fielded its first varsity team in 1892 and has appeared in 26 bowl games, holding a 10‑16 record. The Gamecocks won their only conference championship in 1969 (ACC) and have one SEC East division title (2010). In 2024, coach Shane Beamer led them to a 9‑4 finish and a Citrus Bowl appearance.
