Short History of the Michigan Wolverines
Michigan football, founded in 1879, is among the nation's most historic programs. With a record 11 national championships—the most recent in 1997—Michigan dominates Big Ten history. Legendary coaches like Fielding Yost and Bo Schembechler built "The Big House," today the largest stadium in college football. The Wolverines also lead in all-time victories and are home to numerous Heisman winners, including Tom Harmon and Charles Woodson.
